To oil is called “snehana” in Sanskrit, the same word for “love.” Abhyanga is a practice rooted in intention, compassion, and love.
A rhythmic sequence of strokes, gentle repetition, invites and facilitates profound flow of Prana throughout the entire body, harmonizing both the physical and energetic aspects in unison. Soft touch soothes the tissues, increases blood and oxygen flow, and activates the movements of the dosas (Vata, Pitta, Kapha), removal of toxins, soothing the nervous system to promoting a deep state of relaxation.
Warm herbal oils, which are individually created depending on one’s Prakruti (constitution) and Vikruti (current state of imbalance), work to deeply hydrate and nourish the tissues, making the body increasingly supple, resilient, vibrant, preventing the effects aging.
A short in-take prior to appointment helps to customize the herb and oils choices.
Precautions: Abhyanga is not suitable for those who are ill with fever, in first trimester or have high risk pregnancy, open wounds, active infection, or cancer.
